I’m sure we all remember, because it wasn’t too long ago, when the dog whistle was that a vote for Joe Biden was really a vote for Kamala Harris. Why? Because Joe Biden was senile, so Harris, or Barack Obama, would really be making all the decisions. Or, because Joe Biden was soooooooo old, he was going to die in office, leaving the duty of running the nation to Harris. This was despite the fact that Biden was only three years older than Donald Trump.
This is what the egregiously racist New York Post had to say back in June —
A vote for Joe Biden this November is a vote to make Kamala Harris president next year, or soon thereafter.
This president can’t possibly last another four years: His decline is unmistakable and plainly accelerating rapidly — however much he and the rest of his party deny it.
Worse is that few Americans have confidence in the Queen of Word Salads, not to mention the weird cackles or her near-invisible record as vice president.
The logic behind this was that no one (white) would knowingly vote for Harris — a Black woman of Jamaican and South Asian descent. No, the only way she would make it into office was through treachery and deceit — hoodwinking the public into unwittingly voting for her — as she secretly pulled the strings like Geppetto.
Well, that was a lie. Or as I like to say, the Devil is a lie.
When it was announced that Harris was officially running for president, there was an overwhelming amount of support for her. It was as if something shifted in the atmosphere. Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t want Biden to step down, but Harris breathed new life into the Democratic Party. In fact, she has raised over half a billion dollars in campaign donations in the month-and-a-half since Biden dropped out of the race. Let that sink in. In fact, Harris’ campaign is rolling in so much dough that she’s giving some away.
As reported by MSNBC —
In a sign of just how flush her campaign is as she enters the final turn signaled by Labor Day, Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic National Committee on Tuesday pledged $25 million toward House, Senate and state-level races. That commitment is a major investment aimed at making it easier for Harris to govern if she’s elected president.
With former President Donald Trump atop the Republican ticket, the GOP is in the opposite position financially. If the Harris campaign is a source of cash for other Democratic candidates, then the Trump campaign is a sponge, continuing to suck up precious resources other Republican candidates need ahead of a tight election.
Harris has proved her haters wrong. People don’t mind voting for her — fair and square.
They were not expecting that.
That includes those in the Democratic Party who wanted an open election so they could bulldoze over her.
I have to pull out my favorite meme!
Furthermore, Harris is polling better against Trump than Biden — who regularly trailed Trump throughout this year and the end of last year.
Harris is leading in all major polls.
I have to admit. I didn’t think this would happen.
Perhaps because I’m from the Deep South…
Every now and again, I’m surprised in a good way.
Let’s keep the momentum going for Harris, but let’s remember, there’s a tough fight ahead of us.
