As predicted, Kamala Harris won the debate. Easily. She gave us policy. She gave us facts. She gave us shade.
Donald Trump, on the other hand, gave us lies. He gave us xenophobia and racism. He gave us confusion. And he gave us comedy gold.
Here are the best moments from Harris, and the most bizarre moments, courtesy of Trump.
Trump said Haitian immigrants are eating family pets in Springfield, Ohio. He claimed this is what residents of Springfield say they are experiencing. This literally had me rolling on the floor laughing because it was so absurd. Also, it caught me by surprise. Yet, this is really spreading around J.D. Vance’s home state of Ohio. Vance, U.S. Senator (Ohio), is also central in the spreading of these lies.
Journalist Zaid Jilani helped debunk these lies on X. They can be traced to an August 27 town hall meeting in Springfield, Ohio. A Neo-Nazi, who called himself Nathaniel Higgers (real name Drake R. Berentz), of Blood Tribe, told the city council that “crime and savagery will only increase with every Haitian you bring in.”

This is not Springfield and that’s not a cat or dog. Jilani said he spoke to the person who took the photo and it was taken two months ago in Columbus, Ohio. The person who took the photo “[didn’t know] who the person in the photo [was] and who the birds are.”

After the debate, despite the fact checks, and Springfield officials saying the pet abduction stories were not true, Vance claimed residents had witnessed “geese being taken out of local parks and slaughtered in front of their eyes.” He also blamed Haitians for the cost of homes rising and higher rates of communicable diseases.
This is xenophobia and racism. Nothing more. Nothing less.
The morally corrupt JD Vance also claimed a child was “murdered” by a Haitian immigrant. An 11-year-old was killed in a tragic accident last year when his school bus was hit by a minivan driven by a Haitian immigrant.
This prompted the father of the boy to say —
“My son Aiden Clark was not murdered. He was accidentally killed by an immigrant from Haiti. This tragedy is felt all over this community, the state and even the nation, but don’t spend this towards hate. In order to live like Aiden, you need to accept everyone,” he said.
Clark named four politicians who he said were “morally bankrupt” for referring to his son: Trump, Vance, Ohio’s Republican nominee for the Senate, Bernie Moreno, and Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas.
“They have spoken my son’s name and used his death for political gain,” he said.
“They can vomit all the hate they want about illegal immigrants, the border crisis and even untrue claims about fluffy pets being ravaged and eaten by community members. However, they are not allowed, nor have they ever been allowed, to mention Aiden Clark from Springfield, Ohio,” he said.

I see why Trump picked Vance. They both have no shame.
Kamala Harris trolled Trump about his crowd sizes. She said, “I’m gonna invite you to attend one of Donald Trump’s rallies because it’s a really interesting thing to watch...and what you will also notice is people start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom…and I will tell you the one thing you will not hear him talk about, is you.” This was funny because if you’ve been following the election, you know Trump has an obsession with the size of his crowds. In fact, he regularly inflates the number of attendees. He’s been doing this since his inauguration in 2016. Instead of not responding, because Harris was clearly trolling him, Trump couldn’t help but lie again. Trump was visibly riled up and replied —
“Let me respond to this, to the rallies. She said people start leaving, people don’t go to her rallies…People don’t leave my rallies. We have the biggest rallies, the most incredible rallies in the history of politics.”
Typical Trump. He can’t help himself.
Trump, again, claimed that abortions are being performed on babies after they are born. Why would Trump repeat this lie after being ridiculed for saying it during his debate with President Biden back in June? Does he suffer from memory loss and does he lack comprehension? Is he stupid? Yes, yes, and yes. However, Trump and the MAGA Republicans believe that if you spread a lie enough times it becomes the truth. As reported by CBS NEWS, Trump said “[H]er vice presidential pick says abortion in the ninth month is absolutely fine. He also says execution after birth — it’s execution, no longer abortion because the baby is born, — is OK. And that’s not OK with me. Hence the vote.”
This is another Trump lie that’s so absurd you have to laugh. Of course it’s not true. In fact, Walz did the opposite. He signed a bill into law that protects babies born alive during an abortion procedure.
The updated state statute requires that “all reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice…shall be taken by the responsible medical personnel to care for the infant who is born alive,” according to the Star Tribune. The law says that an infant born alive is fully recognized as a human person.
Trump claimed Harris wants “illegal aliens” to get sex changes in jail. LOLOLOLOL!!!! He said “now [Harris] wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison…this is a radical left liberal that would do this.” Again, this was another Trump moment that made me laugh out loud. I’d predicted correctly there would be many of these. There were many funny reactions on X.
Kamala Harris called Trump out for his racism. Good, good, good!!! I’m glad Harris directly called out Trump’s history of racism and she was not shy about it. Trump is an old school racist. This is not new to him. Harris brought up the 1970s FBI investigation against Trump for his refusal to rent properties to Black Americans. She also reminded him of the ads he put out calling for the execution of the Central Park Five who were later exonerated.
Harris said —
“Honestly, I think it’s a tragedy that we have someone who wants to be president who has consistently, over the course of his career, attempted to use race to divide the American people.”
I could not agree more. Trump doesn’t want to be a president for all people. He needs his racism, however, to be elected.
Kamala Harris kept it real with Trump and let him know what most of the world knows — Putin uses him as a pawn and is “a dictator who would eat [him] for lunch.” This had to hurt Trump who clearly has deep and intense feelings for Russian president, Vladimir Putin. Trump had to feel stupid when Harris told him to “tell the 800,000 Polish Americans right here in Pennsylvania how quickly you would give up [Ukraine] for the sake of favor, and what you think is a friendship with what is known to be a dictator who would eat you for lunch.”
Trump would sell out NATO if he were to be reelected. This would leave Europe, and the United States, in grave danger.
Kamala Harris said that Trump is confused about losing the election in 2020 when he was fired by 81 million people. This had me rolling with laughter. Yes, Vice President Harris, tell Trump that he did not win the election last time! Call him out for refusing to accept his defeat! Why are we still, as a nation, dealing with him? Why was he allowed to run after inciting an insurrection because he, and his followers, wouldn’t accept that Biden had won the presidency? Will this happen again in January 2025? Harris said —
“And when you then talk in this way in a presidential debate and deny what over and over again are court cases you have lost ― because you did, in fact, lose that election ― it leads one to believe that perhaps we do not have, in the candidate to my right, the temperament or the ability to not be confused about fact”…“that’s deeply troubling, and the American people deserve better.”
Yes, we deserve better. We deserve Kamala Harris.

Maybe Trump was born with the inability to speak, what most people see as telling the truth. His private life is very telling. With his lack of morals. He is like a ship at sea without a rudder. Maybe he looked at telling the truth as a superfluous and unnecessary action. He gets his point across by using lies. We mistake his statements for sarcastic hyperbole when in reality he believes in what he is saying. He actually thinks illegal Hatian immigrants are eating pet dog and cats. He thinks Black people love him and by giving the rich tax breaks the trickle down effect, which has been shown not to happen. Something dear to my heart is Trumps mentioned of third trimester abortion. The facts are on a specific set of conditions in incompatible with live birth defect. I would have nothing different in those conditions. Twenty five years ago I was in a similar position. Inducing a 24 week baby girl with a condition called anencephaly. Essentially a baby without the cerebral cortex and cerebellum. No such child has ever lived more than several hours. I gave the mother the choice abort now or to deliver a non viable baby. She choose to abort now. Wow, did I receive major pushback from the nursing staff. They called me to give an in-service to explain and justify my action. Some nurses refused to work with me in the future. So I know how it feels though to go about doing something against people's opinion. It sucks but I still proud to have helped a mother in dire need despite other people's opinion.
If there is anything I learned about this election is that Trump's modus operandi does not include telling the truth, but it does include Joseph Goebbel's method of, " if you lie long enough, people might believe it.
She was glorious. I could hear my dad cackling like Alan Alda/Hawkeye Pierce all the way from central Florida when he shouted, "They're eating the dogs!"
