Being a mediocre white man, I am thrilled that VP Kamala Harris is the Democratic nominee. I am thrilled at the prospect of voting for her. I love her strong character, her confidence and intelligence. She will be a great president.

Tell it, Rosalyn! Sanders' comments are odious and pathetic. I don't want to comment on her own personal attractiveness (or lack of it...), but frankly, this smacks of jealousy. If Knuckaby Sanders feels, deep inside, that she is laughably deficient in style, grace, beauty and intelligence in comparison to Harris, it would certainly be an understandable and justifiable conclusion. But as someone who believes that the beauty of an individual is related to their internal qualities as opposed to their external appearance, I can only say that Knuckaby is a very ugly woman.

I agree. Huckabee painted herself in all-around ugly light trying to take digs at VP Harris, and she’s certainly jealous. I bet she doesn’t like it when people call her frumpy even though they are not lying one bit.

Humility through a Huckabee lens is always about women only - all women - regardless of class or race. It is the fundamentalist view of a woman's role in society. Fundamentalist religion refuses to ordain women priests and pastors, women cannot vote in church matters, women cannot teach men or be a leader of men. Every mainline denomination has a fundamentalist faction that organizes itself along these principles. We have 6 fundamentalist Catholic Supreme Court Justices who have ruled against women according to their fundamentalist religious views. Nearly every Republican in Congress sits in a fundamentalist pew.

An excellent colum. I have two points. When I was coming of age in the '50s and '60s, I could not have believe we would still be arguing about race at this point. I figured we would have wrung all that stuff out of our systems because (I thought) adults had more sense. I'm appalled this is still an issue. We should be ashamed. Point two is, if Sanders' daughter is paying attention, there will come a time she sees that mommy has been ugly inside all along.

Yes, she will, and hopefully she’ll be a better person. Which is why her mommy doesn’t want Black history, which is real American history, taught.

Blended families represent a sizable minority. Both biologic or blended face many similar obstacles yet some obstacles are exclusively faced with family blending, such family dynamics where according Psychology Today where a stepchild may want their parent to be happy in a new relationship, yet they feel disloyal to the parent left behind.(1) In short making a biologic family as a condition to have humility is misguided at least and at most is just wrong.

Another bone I have to pick, is with. Ms.Huckabee. How she equates that only biologic mothers can have humility is beyond me. Sure changes mental and physically from delivery will occur- I have seen the changes, myself, but to have child to call your own, I think will trump the changes caused by being a biologic mother. I agree with Tim Waltz credo," mind your own business." Our government has better things to do such as national defense running social services, policing regulatory laws and providing a common legal tender. But nowhere does government have the responsibility to intrude into our most intimate feelings such as our degree of humility.

As for black women to feel confident about themselves, now to many whites, that going to far to them. How dare a black woman feel confident about herself. Sadly, confident black women do not fit their stereotypical idea of what a black woman represents, thus many white people have cognitive dissonance. They see something that does conform to their concepts causing anxiety and denial. They have two ways to treat this dissonance. Either deny or change other people's thinking or change your own views. Unfortunately, denying others is much less taxing and easier to do than changing yourself.

Humble isn't spending thousands of tax payers hard earned money for a podium ...that went unused . Humble would have been buying a inexpensive podium or reusing refurbishing a antique used podium and then dedicating the extra to a food bank . No Sarah you'll never be pretty ,well , yea your pretty damn ugly ,on the inside and out ! May you pay in your afterlife for your evilness

She isn’t humble (except in it’s first dictionary listing), she’s got it - having a low estimate of one’s own importance. She does act snooty.
